This converted tug pulled up to a mooring near us in Maple Bay. Actually, she just seemed to appear
one morning. I like tugs. This would be my boat if I couldn't sail. If he could have had it, this is a boat my father would have liked to own. There
was a stern line to shore that held her like this all the time... pointing at us. There was a small boat tied along
side, but she was like a ghost ship, I never saw anyone come on deck.

This is a CALM harbor. It's early morning in Maple Bay, Northern Gulf Islands looking SW. This
was going to be an atypical hot day, probably in the high 90's (35 degrees Celsius) . Early in the morning I got started on
varnishing our boat's exterior wood. I have yet to give the boat the needed two 'summer' coats. Like the continuous painting of the Golden Gate Bridge,
I haven't even completed the first coat. We are considering "wintering over" in this remote marina.
It's on Vancouver Island and is a short drive to the 'legendary and famous' town of Duncan. Victoria is an hour's drive
away, and the Bay Area, after a ferry trip, is two day's drive away.

It's morning, looking NE, and we're at anchor. Coffee was ready and I had
my book ready to read in the cockpit. Five years ago all I seemed to read were dental
journals. Now in unrestricted retirement, I am free to read whatever I want.
