Big Bay, a large cove just past the Yuculta Rapids, makes a good stopping point. In the distance are

two more rapid water areas. While it is possible to time things and pass all three in one day,

it is a hassle. A stop here allows you to make passage of the last two easily on the next day.

We are squeezed between large powerboats in Blind Channel Resort in the Discovery Islands. This is a marginally good

reprovisioning spot that features a restaurant, fuel, water and some good hiking into a second growth cedar forest.

Private float and pier in Montague Bay. Almost all of the large islands are inhabited,

and of course, there's miles and miles of shoreline for home building. BC Ferries

system provides service to several islands, but it is a money losing proposition. The ferries crossing from

Vancouver Island to the mainland are run at a profit, but those to the small ialands are run at a loss, so

the whole system is subsidized by the federal government.
