It's March 29, 2001 and "Love of Liberty" is in the slings, about to be launched. Remembering

"Felicity" I asked that she be put in without any fanfare. I invited Paul, Chris and Billy over for some

pizza and a case of Bud. No engraved invitations, no music, no champaigne and no fanfare.

All went well and I say may "Love of Liberty" have the sailor's best luck. With her new topside paint,

new waterline paint and new bottom paint, she's really "our" boat now.

"You're a long way from home, aren't 'ya?" , 'dockwalkers' comment as they see this transom.

Who's home? Where's home? This boat was built in Taiwan,

shipped to San Diego, trucked to Wisconsin and then trucked to Washington.

I get my mail at 'home' in Mesa, Arizona, I pay California taxes and I live in Anacortes, Washington ... for now anyhow.

We declared the hailing port as Annapolis, Maryland because, as we remember,

our best times aboard the schooner "Silver Heels" were in Worton Creek, Maryland. Ellen loves

Americana so this was our name choice and style. Somehow this sounds reasonable to me,

.... and our truck still has Maryland license plates.
