We moved off the boat November 20 th as mentioned in the narrative. Ellen still wanted to see
what we would have seen if we had continued on down the intracoastal waterway in "Silver Heels."
We stopped at Kill Devil Hill in North Carolina and saw the Wright Brother's Memorial. Some
have commented that there's never photos of myself or Ellen ... so here's one. I don't know how
strongly this ties into cruising down the East Coast, but I 've always admired the Wright Brother's
genius ... and we are near the ocean.

Sometime last September, this was one of our best days , and we were only motorsailing.
It does bring back what is only a memory now of how this boat comes alive when
any sail is up. "Silver Heels" is now covered and tied to some pilings for the winter. Her sails
are lashed to the spars or stowed in bags beneath the harbor office. It'll be awhile before this kind of day happens again.

This black hull boat was moored by us for about a month in August at Center Harbor.
The lines are from a French designer, and I don't remember the name. While
at our mooring I could see her there day after day, and I admired her lines.
I met the owner one day, and he said he bought the boat for
only one reason. The boat had been sailed through a hurricane, successfully.
